Installing an eSIM is straightforward and doesn't require visiting a shop. Here's the step-by-step process for iPhone, Samsung and other compatible phones.
Before you install your eSIM
Make sure you have internet (Wi‑Fi or mobile data) and that your phone is eSIM-compatible. Most iPhones from XS/XR, Samsung Galaxy S20 onwards and Google Pixel are compatible. You buy the plan on TuRecargas.com and receive a QR code by email; no physical card is needed.
- Active connection: You must be connected to Wi-Fi or have existing mobile data.
- Compatibility: Verify your phone supports eSIM (iPhone XS/XR onwards, Samsung Galaxy S20+ or Google Pixel 3 onwards).
- Your QR code: After buying your plan on TuRecargas.com, you'll receive a QR code by email. Don't delete it!
1. Installing on iPhone
- Go to Settings → Mobile Data → Add eSIM.
- Select Use QR Code and scan the code we sent you by email.
- Name the plan (e.g. "Italy trip") and tap Add Data Plan.
- When you arrive, in Settings → Mobile Data select the eSIM plan and turn it on for data.
2. Installing on Samsung and other Android
On Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM card and mobile networks → Add eSIM and scan the QR.
On other Android devices the option may be under "Add plan" or "eSIM". Follow the prompts and activate the plan for data when you arrive.
Important note: On most modern devices, the process starts automatically when you open the camera and point it at the QR code.
Expert tips
- Take your time: Set up the profile before your trip (at home or in the hotel) to avoid connection issues at the airport.
- Don't delete the profile: If you have problems, don't remove the eSIM from settings — the QR code is usually single-use.
- Activation: Turn on data roaming only when you're in the destination country so the plan starts working correctly.
